I’ve written three Magic the Gathering stories, one of them a novel.
“Chef’s Surprise,” Distant_Planes, 1995.
This is the origin story of The Underworld Cookbook and its author, Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar. (There are vids on how to say her name.)

The Underworld Cookbook was first referred to in the flavor text of the card Granite Gargoyle.
And Peace Shall Sleep, HarperPrism, 1996
This is my novel exploring the classic fantasy themes of heroism, non-traditional families, and explosives. Excerpt here.
The novel stands on its own — you don’t need to be a Magic the Gathering player for the story to weave its magic around you. (That’s no an accident; I wrote it that way.)
The title is from a Shakespeare passage about war, which you can read here.
I was under a tight deadline as I wrote this book. I told myself again and again that I would not try to come up with quotes for each chapter. Just too much work. Then, at the last minute, the quotes came to me, as if by magic sent. Some were from MtG card flavor text. Some were entirely my invention.
Here are the ones I wrote:

This short story was the start of the novel And Peace Shall Sleep, so I won’t go into much detail here, except to say that I pretty thrilled to be able to expand it into a full novel.
